A Southern girl at heart, Maricar Harris moved to Wichita, Kansas in 2014 as her husband, Chris, joined a private practice there after he served eight years in the US Navy.
With a BS in Chemistry, MA in Education: Curriculum & Instruction and a MS in Chemistry Education, Maricar’s passion lies in education. She is currently the Science Department Chair at Wichita Collegiate School where she teaches high school chemistry. She is a chapter advisor for HOSA - Future HealthCare Professionals and serves on the Board of Directors for Kansas HOSA. She is a Lead Teacher for Kansas Corn STEM. She serves as a Regional Representative for American Association of Chemistry Teachers (AACT). She serves on the Executive Committee of the Local Section of the American Chemistry Society (ACS) and received the ACS Midwest Regional Award for Excellence in High School Teaching in 2018.
While she enjoys her job and her students, her true loves are her faith and her family. She and Chris have four children: Will (27), Addison (24), Bekah (21), and their super-miracle Victor (8). When not with her family or serving through a ministry at church, Maricar can be found traveling, working out, writing letters to pen pals, or on the golf course.
